But the digitalization of music has done more. Not only is it better to view videos however it better to find and discover new music, acts and bands too. MySpace has made a multi-billion dollar network on the backs of hot acts and unsigned bands and their pals.

This 20 years before was a direct threat to your inventive vision and classified as selling out. But now these things are all used to cleverly show music to the masses and making it easier to find it. Technology has made mega-channels of distribution. Peer-to-peer networks have opened the floodgates to getting free music. Additionally, because digitised music takes of bytes rather than floor space you’re now given a better range of music to select from at digital outlets.

British Invasion Was a New Era for Rock and Roll Music

The British Invasion occurred in the mid-’60s, when a wave of English rock & roll bands crossed over into the American market after the breakthrough success of the Beatles. Though not all of the bands sounded similar — they ranged from the hard rock of the Rolling Stones and the Kinks to the sweet pop of Gerry & the Pacemakers and Herman’s Hermits — each group was heavily influenced by American rock & roll, blues, and R&B. British Invasion bands were either blues-based rockers or pop/rockers with ringing guitars and catchy hooks & melodies. Between 1964 and 1966, the British bands dominated the American charts, as well as the charts in the U.K. In that time, there was a second wave of British Invasion bands — such as the Who and the Zombies — which was indebted to both American rock and British Invasion pop. By the late ’60s, many of the bands had become rock icons but a greater number didn’t survive the transition into the post-Sgt. Pepper era.

The enormous success of The Beatles paved the way and opened the door for other groups and singers (during the British Invasion of 1964-1966), some of them also managed by Brian Epstein.

Gerry Marsden, a former truck driver who grew up with and was a neighbor of the Beatles, formed a band called The Pacemakers in 1959. Epstein signed the group in June 1962, and Gerry And The Pacemakers began establishing a following at Liverpool’s Cavern Club, often sharing the same bill as the Beatles.

In 1963, they scored a no. 1 British smash, “How Do You Do It?” (This was originally intended for the Beatles, but legend has it that the group didn’t like the song at all, and deliberately sang this off-key at a session.) “I Like It” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”" followed, which I believe were also no. 1 British smashes. The group capped off the year with an appearance on the British show “Saturday Night At The London Palladium”.

By May 1964, Gerry and the Pacemakers made their American TV debut on Ed Sullivan. Their U.S. single debut? The classic (and beautiful!) “Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying”. And like the Beatles, they also starred in a movie, “Ferry Across The Mersey”, with a same-titled hit.
