Cloud Computing Services to Be Launched By Vodafone

Basic cloud computing services are expected to be launched by Vodafone sometime next year. Vodafone has announced plans for the same, hinting at a PC backup service to be provided to customers. However, pricing for the proposed service has not yet been decided.

The Vodafone PC backup will primarily be a storage service for data and will launch the company’s range of cloud computing services. Customers can see, review, edit and distribute this data just as they would if it were stored on their own devices. The data will be stored and managed on a remote location.

The mobile broadband operations director of Vodafone clarified the need for the service saying that users increasingly need to make use of different devices and tools each day. They are now dependent on a variety of equipments and tools to stay connected and work without disruption. Vodafone hopes to integrate all these tools and services plus the user’s own data on one platform to let him/ her function efficiently using just one service. This is the basic advantage that cloud computing is expected to offer.

Security and encryption methods will be implemented to prevent misuse and leakage of sensitive data. This will enable even businesses to make full use of this service to move their data management systems to remote servers.
