Why Visit Val D’Isere in the Northern Alps
One of Europe’s most notable ski resorts, Val d’Isre boasts 551 kilometres of trails. Skiing commences during mid November and culminates in mid May. The high altitude purpose built French village caters for all your needs. Val d’Isere extends down the valley from La Daille up to Le Fornet with the buzzing centre in Val Village. This bunch of pretty buildings comprise dapper shops nearly all of which have sprung up since the resort was picked for the winter olympics.
Split into three different areas the town has plenty of pistes for all skiers. Like Chamonix France Val d’Isere has a good snow record, the resort is massively popular amongst advanced skiers and motorway skiing intermediates, on the other hand you do not have to be particularly advanced to love what’s there. One can easily see how come so many British are pulled in to the area, with its exciting nightlife and the variety of amusement on offer, but the proximity of Tignes allows you to head out to less frantic climes if it all begins to get a bit much.
Pros
A brilliant night out in France. Everyone speaks English. Comfortable entrance to Val d’Isre and Tignes collectively known as the Espace Killy ski area. There is lots of traffic and although there are regular buses during the daytime, committed party animmals should aim to be within a short distance from the town centre.
Cons
Costly. Busy and fashionable with English tourists, thus not for holiday makers wanting a typical French ski town to enjoy a relaxing vacation. A lot of ski lifts can shut in windy conditions. Some tricky blue and green trails.
