The UK is trying its best to develop superior broadband facilities in the country, by making internet accessible to all areas, including villages and other areas with low density of people. There are many areas in the country that have very poor internet services, and not many people are aware of them, but with the new G-View website from Gavurin and Point Topic, it is now possible to identify these regions.
The new website shows broadband levels by geography through a mapped depiction of broadband internet speeds and take-up related information for different areas of the country.
The website has latest data for broadband speeds in the UK updated to the current year. The different regions are split into three groups -”High Speed Heaven”, which lists areas with speeds more than 8MB; “Average Access”, with areas that have a speed range of 2MB-8MB; and “Slowband Land”, that lists areas with speeds below 2MB.
Interestingly, London has an overwhelming 93% of all its connections coming under the category of “High Speed Heaven”. However, Wales and Northern Ireland are at the bottom of the list, with their broadband speeds being less than average.
The new service would also provide historical information, thus helping the users understand trends behind broadband development in the country.
